 TACTICAL ARMOR™
is a proprietary wellbore strengthening material that enables operators to build integrity while drilling and achieve success even in the most difficult formations. By forming a thin wall barrier (wall-cake) against the rock-fluid interface, TACTICAL ARMOR™ prevents fluid and pressure invasion into matrix pores and microfractures. Inspired by technology found in TOP’s Tactical Blitz®, TACTICAL ARMOR™ is an innovative addition to any mud system, loaded in the active system as a background material at 8-12ppb. 

Advantages, Applications, and Properties

Advantages

  • Reduces spurt loss and HTHP fluid loss. 

  • Forms a thin yet strong and malleable filter cake 

  • Increases fracture pressure (as much as 1.0ppg equivalent in early trials) allowing the operator to increase mud weights in tight pressure windows to combat increases in pore pressure. 

  • Seals up to 10 – 210μ microfractures at high differential pressure. 

  • Shows effectiveness and compatibility in WBM systems. Future trials to be performed in OBM systems. 

  • Allows continual use of shale shaker systems with screen sizes 70 mesh or larger. 

  • Reduces T&D on trips. 

  • Reduces magnitude and effect of differential pressure, hence reducing the risk of hydraulic sticking.

  • Mixes easily with any rig equipment. 

  • Resists degradation and decomposition (noticeable odor reduction). 

Application
Used as a background material, Tactical Armor™ is loaded in the active mud system prior to drilling through the suspect hole interval. Initial concentration is mixed to eight (8) ppb and maintained to hole section TD. 

In the event losses occur, Tactical Blitz® should be utilized to eliminate the losses while enhancing the Tactical Armor’s™ ability to increase wellbore integrity and fracture pressure.

Appearance: Black powder pH: Neutral (7) in freshwater. Specific gravity: 1.12 g/cm3.

Packaging: 25lb sacks, 50 sacks per pallet. Pallets shrink wrapped.
