CASE STUDIES

Premium friction reducing and lubricating agent.
Vegetable Oil Based (passes LC50 requirements)
Designed for all drilling fluids.
Does not promote foaming or aeration.
Compatible with any diesel or synthetic oils.
Enhances lubricity in high solids and elevated temperatures.
BENEFITS:
Enhances sliding efficiency.
Reduces torque & drag while motor drilling.
Coats the BHA to prevent bit & BHA balling.
Enhances ROP.
Effective in WBM or OBM.
Non-Hydrocarbon
Non-Aromatic
Non-Toxic
Non-Flammable
APPLICATION:
•2.0% by volume to the active mud system.
•Batch mixed in water or mud at 3% to 8% for specific lubricating applications then swept or spotted thru the well bore.
•Maintain system concentration, on a per-tour basis.
TOP SIDEWINDER™ is packaged in 55 gallon drums with 4 drums per pallet. Each pallet is banded and shrink wrapped for better transportation handling.
Case Study #1
SK Plymouth Mississippi Lime
Four offset wells were considered in the comparison in the 6-1/8” hole section. Each well was drilled with fresh water.
Average ROP = 22.6 ft/hr
Average bits per well = 7.25 bits
Average feet per bit = 583 feet
Average days per well = 13.4 days
Product Placement and Consumption:
•Four (4) Totes of TOP-Sidewinder® (1,100 gallons) were used.
•Product was added at 5-10 gallons per hour and in sweeps.
•25 bbl maintenance sweeps with a 5% concentration were pumped with a loss circulation preventive (TOP’s Tactical Blitz®) to mitigate losses and clean the hole.
Results:
•Average ROP = 36.8 ft/hr
•Average bits per well = 3 bits
•Average feet per bit = 1,135 feet
•Average days per well = 7 days
•63% increase in ROP
•Four (4) bit reduction
•95% increase in footage drilled per bit
•6.4 day reduction in drilling time.
Approximately $25,000 worth of TOP-Sidewinder® was used to drill the Marcella 2-36H. It was estimated that $230,900 was saved. This was the fastest well drilled by SK Plymouth in the Miss Lime!
Case Study #2
East TX Operator
Carthage / Haynesville Shale (Diesel OBM)
Expected Issues From Previous Pad Wells:
Low sliding ROP less than 4.5 ft/hr.
High temps exceeding 320o F.
Excess drag with hook loads exceeding 400K lbs.
Excessive back-reaming during trips.
Casing trip times exceeding 20 hrs
Product Placement and Consumption:
•(16) 55 gallon drums were added at the initiation of the KOP to bring the concentration to 2% of the active system.
•An additional (8) 55 gallon drums of TOP-Sidewinder were added at the beginning of the lateral to bring the concentration to 3% and maintained to TD (per the engineer’s request).
Results:
•Curve was drilled 55% faster because there was no need to ream.
•Sliding ROP increased from 4.5 ft/hr to 10.5 ft/hr. There was never a need to “rock the string”.
• Temperature never exceeded 300o F saving 10 hrs of circulation time to cool MWD.
•Trip times were reduced by 50% due to no need to back-ream.
•Maximum hook load was 240K lbs, reducing drag by 60%.
•Casing trip times were reduced from 22 hrs to 10hrs (54% reduction).
